Rice Husks

These steam-sterilized horticultural rice husks make a great soil amendment as they significantly improve airflow and prevent soil from compacting. They also absorb excess water and serve as a silica source for the plant. Silica is considered “superfood” for plants as it strengthens plant cells, increasing its resistance to stressors like pests, diseases, drought or overwatering. Adding rice husks to the potting mix is an eco-friendly choice as rice husks are a waste product of the rice production industry. Keep in mind that rice husks do break down in time. It takes about 2 to 3 years for them to fully decompose.

Our rice husks are sterilized at 130°C and have a germination rate of less than 1%.

100% Peat-free

Coco coir is a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to peat. We pack it with nutrients and use it as the base component for all our potting mixes.

No Perlite

Perlite requires a significant amount of energy to produce. We choose pumice, which is more sustainable and does not rise to the top of the pot.

Bioactive

Our mixes contain various soil bacteria, beneficial fungi, yeast and enzymes. Such biodiversity ensures a healthy root growth and a strong immune system for your plant.

Made in Belgium

All our potting mixes are freshly prepared for each order and packed in a recyclable package with FSC-certified paper label. We mix, pack and ship from Ghent, Belgium.
