This mineral has exceptional water retention properties, which makes it a perfect soil amendment for moisture-loving plants like calathea, alocasia, ferns and some others. Vermiculite also aerates the soil well thanks to its porous structure. Vermiculite absorbs water and nutrients from the soil and slowly releases them to the plant roots. This also makes it a great medium for seed starting!
